Today I want to show you how I make my custom cake boards.  They satisfy my need for speed and creativity and they are gentle on your budget so they don’t add a big expense to the cost of a cake.  They take about 5 minutes to make and depending on what paper you use, can cost around $1.50 – $1.75 in materials.

One question….when you purchase the Mulberry Paper Sheets, the link sent me to a page that sold 12″ X 9″ Sheets. Your Mulberry Paper looked so much bigger than that. Did it send me to the right page on Amazon?

  11. Hi Tanya, I so glad you found my tutorial useful! You should be able to choose different size options from the company. I particularly love the Unryu papers which you can get in 25″ x 37″ sheets

Hello..I am doing a cake and the board that will be used is a surf board, It needs to be 20″ long. what would you suggest? Your work is beautiful

    • Hello! Thanks for the sweetness😊. I would use foamcore for the board. You can get it a craft supply stores. Either 1/2 inch thick or two layers of 1/4”.

  16. Sherry Rocco

is the contact paper food safe for putting your cake directly on it?

    • Hello Sherry. It depends on the brand. I use a cake board under my cake so it’s not a concern for me but I suggest you check with the manufacturer of the brand of contact paper you use if you are not using a cake board.

Tell me what you think!
